A Guide on Writing Your Education and Certifications Section

Chapter 5

Create a Dedicated “Education & Certifications” Section

  • Position this section after the Work Experience and Key Skills sections.
  • Clearly label it as Education & Certifications or Training &
  • Qualifications to make it easy to find.

List Certifications That Add Value to Your Application

  • Include only relevant certifications related to caregiving, healthcare, or first aid.
  • Format each certification entry as follows:
      • Certification Name
      • Issuing Organisation
      • Year of Completion

Example:

  • First Aid & CPR Certification – Red Cross United Kingdom (2022)
  • Diploma in Caregiving – Care Academy Online (2021)

Include Recognised Certifications

While requirements vary by employer, these certifications are commonly valued:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Provides training in medical and personal care.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification – Essential for emergency response.
  • Home Health Aide (HHA) Certification – Focuses on personal and medical care in home settings.
  • Diploma in Caregiving – Covers a wide range of caregiving skills, available in online or in-person formats.

Mention Ongoing or In-Progress Certifications

  • If you are currently completing a certification, list it as “In Progress” with an estimated completion date.

Example:

Keep It Concise & Relevant

  • Avoid listing outdated or irrelevant certifications.
  • If you have advanced medical training (such as a nursing diploma), you can include it but keep the focus on caregiving-related qualifications.
