Why Interview Preparation Matters

The interview is often the deciding factor in landing your next role. It is your chance to bring your CV to life, show how you think and demonstrate the value you would add to the team. Yet many strong candidates miss out because they:

  • Give long, unfocused answers that never quite land.
  • Arrive underprepared for common or role-specific questions.
  • Struggle to talk confidently about achievements, gaps or career changes.
  • Have not researched the company or role in enough depth.

Structured interview preparation helps you avoid these pitfalls. With a bespoke approach, you will gain the confidence, language and strategies you need to perform at your best.

You can also explore my wider career advice services, including job-search strategy and career coaching, if you want support across the whole process.

What You’ll Gain From Our Interview Coaching

1. Confidence Through Practice

Practice reduces nerves. Our mock interview sessions simulate real interview conditions and use questions adapted to your target role and sector. You will answer, receive live feedback and then go again so that you can feel the difference immediately.

2. Bespoke Question Strategies

We build clear, compelling responses to both common and challenging questions, including:

  • “Tell me about yourself.”
  • “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
  • “Why should we hire you?”
  • “Describe a time you dealt with a difficult situation.”

Your answers will be authentic, structured and memorable, not memorised scripts.

3. Research and Role-Specific Preparation

We review the job description, company, and sector to ensure clear alignment with their goals and values.
You will learn how to use your research to shape your answers, rather than just repeating facts from the website.

4. Nonverbal Communication & Presence

Body language, tone and presence matter in person and on video. We will refine your posture, eye contact and overall style so you come across as confident, engaged and easy to talk to.

5. Strategies for Managing Nerves

Feeling nervous is completely normal. I will share simple, practical techniques to manage anxiety before and during the interview, so you can think clearly and stay composed under pressure.

6. A Professional Follow-Up Strategy

We will also cover what happens after the interview: how to write a concise, professional follow-up email and how to stay on the employer’s radar without feeling pushy.

My interview preparation and coaching is ideal if you:

  • Have an important interview coming up and want to maximise your chances.

  • Are changing role, sector or country and need help reframing your experience.
  • Are a graduate or early-career professional facing your first serious interview rounds.
  • Are a senior manager or executive preparing for panel, stakeholder or board-level interviews.

Many clients combine interview coaching with my CV writing services, cover letter writing service and LinkedIn profile writing services to ensure their documents and interview performance tell a consistent, compelling story.

Frequently Asked Questions About Interview Preparation

Here are some of the most common questions about my interview preparation and coaching.
If you do not see your question here, you are welcome to ask a different question.

What will I get from interview coaching?

You will leave with clear, practised answers, a set of 6–8 strong STAR/CAR stories, and a bespoke strategy for the company and role you are targeting. Most clients notice a more substantial presence, tighter structure and more confident delivery, both online and in person.

How does a mock interview work?

We simulate the real format as closely as possible, whether that is a competency-based panel, a stakeholder interview, a case study or a presentation round. You will receive live coaching, time stamped feedback and a clear action list to refine your content, structure and delivery.

Can you help with video interviews?

Absolutely. We look at lighting, background, camera placement and energy management, as well as timing, on-screen eye-line and how to use notes without sounding scripted.

How many sessions do I need?

Many candidates see a noticeable improvement in 1–3 sessions (around 60 minutes each). For complex processes, such as multi-stage, panel or executive rounds, 2–4 sessions usually work well, including at least one full mock interview and a refinement session.

Do you cover salary expectations and offer negotiation?

We can absolutely work on salary and offer discussions. This may include researching market ranges, preparing your positioning and drafting scripts for questions such as “What are your salary expectations?” or “Do you have any other offers?” We can even rehearse a negotiation conversation.

Who is this best for?

I work with graduates through to senior professionals and executives. Interview coaching is especially valuable for panel, competency-based, case or presentation interviews, and whenever the stakes feel high, such as promotions, pivots or top tier employers.

Do you help with specific interview types (case, presentation, panel)?

Yes. We adapt frameworks to the format you are facing – for example, MECE-style structuring for cases, clear narrative arcs and slides for presentations, and stakeholder mapping for panels. We always practise to the real brief where possible.

What if I have a last-minute interview?

If timing allows, we can arrange an express session focused on high-impact fixes: decoding the role scorecard, preparing 3–4 tailored stories and tightening your opening and closing answers. We will prioritise the areas that will move the needle most.

Will you help me with difficult questions and gaps?

Yes. We can prepare concise, honest responses around career pivots, short tenures, redundancies, performance issues or gaps. The aim is to address concerns clearly and then refocus attention on the value you bring.

What are the logistics and price?

Sessions are delivered online (video) during UK business hours, with a limited number of early-morning or early-evening slots available. Packages typically start from around the cost of a single focused session, with discounts for bundles of three or more. If you do not feel you have received value from the first session, let me know within 24 hours and we will agree appropriate next steps in line with my policy.
