Career Advice Services
I offer three core career advice services that can be booked individually or combined, depending on what you need right now.
In a Job-Search Strategy Session, we take a focused look at how you are presenting yourself and how you are searching for roles. You will learn how to:
- Align your CV with your target roles and improve your chances of beating Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
- Adjust your profile, summary and key achievements to stand out to real decision-makers.
- Use LinkedIn more strategically to find roles, connect with the right people and track your progress.
By the end of the session, you will have a clearer, more structured job-search plan designed to increase your chances of securing interviews.
“After being made redundant after 15 years, I asked Brendan to rebuild my CV from scratch. He took the time to really understand my experience and the role I wanted. The new CV landed me an interview on my first application, and I got the job. His CV writing is worth every penny.”
My Career Coaching programme is built around a simple RICH framework:
- Research: We assess where you are now and what options are realistically available.
- Identity: Through questioning and a light SWOT analysis, we uncover your strengths, preferences and non-negotiables.
- Community: We explore how to use your network and where to build new connections to support your next move.
- Habit Development: We turn ideas into a practical, sustainable action plan with weekly steps you can actually follow.
This gives you clarity, direction and a bespoke strategy to move forward, rather than another generic motivational conversation.
“Brendan was incredible. He supported my move to Canada with a full CV rewrite, job-search assistance and career coaching. He identified the most effective job-search strategy and soon I was getting far more attention from recruiters and potential employers. He helped me regain confidence in my skills and value. I couldn’t recommend his services enough.”
The Interview Preparation Service is designed to help you show up calm, prepared and ready to talk about your experience with confidence. Typically, we will:
- Choose a specific role or type of role and analyse the job description together.
- Run a full virtual mock interview using role-relevant questions.
- Review your answers in detail, highlighting strengths and areas to improve.
- Provide a concise report with suggestions, sample responses and points to rehearse.
You leave with a clearer structure for your answers and a much stronger sense of what employers actually want to hear.
How My Career Advice Sessions Work
However we work together, whether for job-search strategy, career coaching or interview preparation, the process is straightforward and bespoke to you.

01
Initial Consultation.
We start with a brief conversation or written intake to understand your background, current situation and what you want from career advice or coaching.

02
Preparation.
Before our main session, I review your CV, LinkedIn profile and any relevant job descriptions. For some services, I will prepare targeted questions or exercises so we can use our time efficiently.

03
One-to-one session.
We meet online (or by phone) for an in-depth session focused on your goals, whether that is clarifying your next step, improving your job-search strategy or rehearsing for an interview.

04
Recap & next steps.
After the session, you receive a clear summary of key points, practical actions to take and, where relevant, suggestions for follow-up sessions or resources.
Ongoing support.
You are welcome to ask follow-up questions, and we can schedule additional sessions if you would like continued accountability or support.

Why Choose Me for Career Advice & Coaching?
Experience across industries and levels.
I have worked with hundreds of clients across sectors such as finance, tech, law, healthcare, education, logistics, public sector and more – from first-time jobseekers to senior executives.
Practical and empathetic.
I have made my own mistakes in job searches and career decisions, and I understand how stressful the process can feel. My role is to offer clear, honest feedback and steady support, not judgement.
Bespoke, not one-size-fits-all.
No two clients are the same. I adjust my approach mid-session if needed so that we focus on what will genuinely move the needle for you, not a generic script.
Joined-up with your documents and strategy.
Because I also help with CVs, cover letters and LinkedIn, your career advice, documents and job search all support each other rather than pulling in different directions.

Frequently Asked Questions About Career Advice & Coaching
Here are some common questions about my career advice services. If you do not see your question here, you are welcome to ask a different question.
Is career advice right for me, or should I just start with a CV?
If your main issue is that your CV is outdated or does not reflect your experience, starting with a CV rewrite may be enough. If you are unsure what you want next, struggling to get traction with applications or feeling stuck in your current role, a career advice or coaching session can give you the clarity and strategy you need. We can decide on the best starting point together.
What if I do not know what I want to do next?
That is very common. You do not need a perfectly clear goal before we speak. Part of the coaching process is to explore your options, values, strengths and constraints, and then narrow them down into realistic next steps.
How many sessions will I need?
Some clients get what they need from a single, focused session. Others prefer a short series of sessions to maintain momentum and accountability. We will agree on a plan that fits your goals, budget and timeframe, and you are never locked into a long contract.
Do you work with my industry or level?
I have supported clients across a wide range of industries and levels, from early-career professionals to senior leaders. If I ever feel that your situation requires a different type of specialist, I will be honest about that rather than pretending otherwise.
Do you only work with clients in the UK?
I am UK-based and most of my work focuses on the UK job market, but I regularly support clients in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America who are targeting UK roles or UK-linked employers.
How do I get started?
You can either book an introductory call to discuss your situation in more detail or request a free CV review if you would like initial feedback on your documents. From there, we will agree on the most appropriate next step together.
